Water-based impregnating agent for Shou Sugi Ban technique
Protection and resistance with traditional Japanese technique:
Water-based impregnating agent suitable for treating wood according to the Shou Sugi Ban technique, which combines surface carbonization and finishing to obtain aesthetically unique wood that is highly resistant to atmospheric agents.
Recommended applications
- ✅ Boards already sized for final use
- ✅ Wooden panels and artefacts
- ✅ External and decorative cladding
Note: Not suitable for woods such as chestnut, oak or iroko.
Shou Sugi Ban Technique
- 🔥 Carbonization: blacken the wood with a LPG gas torch; a superficial layer is sufficient for resistance, while a complete blackening creates a "charcoal" effect.
- 🪵 Brushing: remove the loose layer with a wire brush and then a sorghum or plastic brush
- 💧 Washing: rinse the boards under running water to remove residue from the crevices
- 🛢️ Finish: after complete drying, apply natural oil or water-based finish
